Tamarack Bog Trail (5.2 km, BLUE trail markers)

You will travel through flat forest land with one rocky section along Horne Lake. After following the gravel causeway (along the cattail marsh), passing the viewing stand and crossing the two bridges, you will pick up this trail. It follows the Tamarack Bog, Horne Lake and joins the Upland Forest trail.

Tamarack Bog

-Tamarack trees, which turn gold and lose their needles in the fall, grow here in sphagnum moss
-the water in this area is acidic and supports very special bog plants.

Cattail Marsh

-tall dense cattails create the border to open water covered in places by water lilies, iris and smaller plants
-the cattails help to filter and clean the water
